2009 Folk Festival - Saturday, November 21st

A message from Roger Allen, Director, Florida Maritime Museum at Cortez regarding the 2009 Festival: “The Folk Arts Festival was a success with approximately 2,200 people in attendance. One of the biggest hits of the event was an Ice Cream eating contest sponsored by Tyler’s Ice Cream in Cortez (which they hope to repeat at the Spring Cortez Festival). Along with the ice cream you could get every kind of seafood from crab claws to Cortez Hotdogs or smoked mullet. The Music was better than average this year with a nice variety of types from Folk to Country and Country Western. There was a nice array of crafts represented from custom jewelry, enameled fish, original paintings of all sorts and pottery to name just a few. Weather was perfect.”
